Spring Break 1997
This is the first day of Spring Break here in Alabama and as Tarlie has mentioned we went to Destin alot from Montgomery. When Lucas was a junior in high school he went to Destin with a bunch of people from Saint James. I forget where they were suppose to be staying, but Jerry, Pops and I were at our condo for the week at the same time.
Of Course the guys didn’t really want to be with mom and dad for that week but one morning seven guys showed up at the condo for breakfast, a shower and a nap. I fixed them food and they all took a shower and settled into the back bedroom for a nap. seven guys, two double beds —meant that at least three ended up on the floor so it was wall to wall sleeping boys on the floor. Jeff McIntyre at 6′ 2″ took up the whole spot between the bed and the little couch, Rick Fidel, Bartley, Alan were there and Lucas. I don’t remember who else. It was a long nap (all day) the room is really perfect for daytime sleeping because it can be total darkness I can just remember peeking in an seeing them all asleep….with no room to walk, or roll over all day long. I’m sure they had been up all night long the night before… having a good time… as juniors in high schools can do on any given spring break. I know i thought of taking a picutre but I can’t find it… I wish one of you who were with Lucas that year would write a little bit about it for me.

I remember that nap.Lucas got butt naked and laid on the bed so he could have one of the beds to himself. It worked.

I always remember Lucas hopping around on one foot across the parking lot of Sandpiper Cove. He had decided to get rid of the crutches! Fun Memories..
Judi and Tarlie I changed pharma companies so have a new email. I got a new computer so lost all my contact emails.

That was the next year, his senoir year. I helped him rent a unit at Sandpiper Cove for the week for everyone to stay. All dreamed up while he stayed at home with a broken leg and we all went to school. I had to go over one night and sit with them all because someone called the cops on them for making too much noise… hummmmmm wonder who that could have been. bartley, alan, laura p. jake, who sat with me on the curb until 2 am and until the cops left?

I can’t remember junior year spring break (except that JB and Jill got in that wreck and we all thought they were off making out somewhere…oops)
But I do remember senior year spring break…lucas with his broken leg…He was the only one who could run speaker wire…just like his first year in football, he was the only one who knew how to put his pads together and put on his uniform…(I wasn’t there for that, but Bart and Jason Smith used to talk about it…)
As for that nap, i’m not sure I remember it…it must have been a good one…but I actually think I do remember the part that Lee said about him getting naked to get his own bed…glad it was dark…
