Housesitting
This past year I “housesitted” or I guess you can call it babysitting. I housesitted for Marshall Long when his mom went out of town. Marshall is a Senior at St. James this year. Anyways, Lucas would always hang out with me over there. He was everybody’s friend there. He would always beg me to let him stay there instead of me when Ms. Long would call. I always remember how I would go to bed, but Lucas would stay up till 4 in the morning with these kids just hanging out. I always remember the night Lucas decided to start tackling these kids. They woke me up because they were all laughing so hard. Lucas, of course, laughing the loudest. Anyways, what got them so stirred up was Lucas tackled Brad Campbell so hard in Marshall’s backyard that Brad didnt move for like 10 minutes.. It was all they could talk about the next morning. There are many memories I have of Lucas and those kids all hanging out and seeing how they all looked up to him. He was always so kind to them. If Lucas wasnt with me they would be upset and call him to come over. Just another great example of how great a person Lucas was to everyone no matter how old you were.

That tackle on Brad came after about a 30 minute speech from Lucas (at about 2AM on a school night) about how much Lucas loved Coach Smeltzer. He started talking about all of his craziest moments playing football for Saint James, and he got so pumped up, he got Brad to go stand in the middle of the backyard and he just plowed him into the ground. We were all falling out of our chairs laughing.
