Having lived in the Sooner State for the past several years, I did not get the chance to hang out with Lucas on a consistent basis, as many of you have. My heart goes out to all of you who lived, worked and played with Lucas on a daily basis. These thoughts are what I will remember about Lucas. They are simple, yet meaningful to me. You always knew where you stood with Lucas. He never changed. Whether you were with him in Montgomery, Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, or Auburn, it was no different than sitting next to him in Spanish class, terrorizing the weight hut during 7th period P.E. class, or the partaking of an always eventful evening on Everest Drive (for those that remember the pool table, swimming pool, and the “world channel”). He was quite possibly the friendliest person I have ever known. Somerville and I were discussing Lucas on the phone last night, as I am sure many of you were. One thing we quickly realized was how so many people knew, and hung out with Lucas. He had friends of all ages. Our parents even adored him. When it is all said and done, it should not be a surprise to anyone at just how many people can actually say, “I was friends with Lucas Harris.”
