My favorite memories
I have been thinking long and hard about what I wanted to share with you all about my memories of Lucas. It is so hard because I have so many of them!
Lucas was one of my closest guy friends. I met him in 7th grade at Saint James and remember thinking he was so cute! We used to give Lucas rides home then and my little brother Will would bother us both so much that we would sit in the very back of my Mom’s minivan. I have this image in my mind of Lucas in middle school sitting on the deck where we used to eat lunch and chuging his milk, almost a gallon at one sitting!
By the time high school rolled around we were very close friends. I called him my “bro” because he reminded me so much of my older brother Hunter. Lucas was always such a great friend to have. He always made me laugh. I have some great pictures of our double dates to dances when Lucas, Lauren, Alan and I would all ride together.
In college I would see him over breaks at home and when he would come to Tuscaloosa to visit. I started to see him more when I would visit Lee at Auburn. I remember after I broke my back in a car accident he came to visit me at my parents house. It made my day to see him. It also made my grandmothers day to see him! Nani, my mother’s mom, thought he was “the best looking thing she had ever laid her eyes on” and would also say “he looks like Fabio” or “he looks like a latin lover”. I think this was because he was so tan and his hair was so long and slicked back. He was always smiling a big smile and I loved that goofy laugh. I can still hear that laugh in my mind. That is something I will always love and remember him by.
The last time I saw Lucas was when he came by my office one day to bring me his new business card. He looked wonderful! He had a big smile, as always, and gave me a big hug. I keep his business card in my card file on my desk and it reminds me of him everday. I love him and miss him.

talking about his hair slicked back reminded me how he went through a phase of always getting water in his hands and messing with his hair. I use to call him Pat Riley.. It was really funny.. He would do it and then go in public and embarrass me completely..

Thats real funny there Jacob!
Laura, yeah I can remember Lucas messing with your Mom and making these weird noises that he sometimes did. She was laughing the whole time.
It was always hard trying to be serious if you were taking a picture with him.
