Lucas, Tarlie, Gabe and Chance

Posted in Memories at 9:54 am by Miwako

Hi, Tarlie. I hope you remember me, Miwako who was an exchange student from Japan and stayed in your place during the year 1992-1993.
I received the email from JudiMom today and be informed about this site.
As we all know, Lucas had a nice smile, sense of humor and warm heart.
To me, Lucas is only a 12-year-old boy. Thank you for you website, I had a chance to see many photos of grown-up Lucas. He sure is very handsome young man.
You should be proud of your brother.
In my days in Montgomery, I and Lucas often had a nice talk. He was sometimes my English teacher.
I guess I may have some story about him that you do not know.

Lucas: Isn’t that Tarlie an unusual name?
Miwako: I am not sure. But maybe. I never heard of the name “Tarlie” before.
Lucas: Yes! It is very rare name, so as Chance and Gabe. I think their names are cool.
Miwako: How about “Lucas”?
Lucas: How about “Miwako” in Japan?
We both laughed each other. He also told me that his full name was “John Lucas”.

Tarlie, Lucas, your younger brother was very proud of you and your big brothers.
He was a very good boy.

I will try to visit the site to share the good memory of Lucas.

i added the pics in on your entry. i think the first one is in our back yard and the second one is on a college seeing tour my parents took us on – it looks like Vanderbilt – i really cant tell for sure though. i guess lucas had had enough of the girls at that point!

some time you have to tell us something about your trip to mexico city with lucas! just background for the others – miwako’s parents planned this trip for her to go to mexico city to see family friends or relatives and i was supposed to go with her, but i had my car wreck the week before we were supposed to leave, so lucas went instead! he seemed pretty freaked out when he got back – complaining about no good water and dirt everywhere – it was pretty funny to hear him talk about it. i think that cured of him of wanting to travel internationally for a while.

Thanks Tarlie. yes, the 1st one is in the backyard. and the 2nd one sure is at Vanderbilt. I remember you told me that Vanderbilt was one of your favorite colleges and wished to go. Do you remember that? We also went to some kind of theme park or amusement place, and enjoyed coutry music live concert, I believe. Wow, that was such a long time ago…

The trip to mexico city was pretty fun for me. Historical places and good mexican food and everything. I guess that Lucas was too young to understand a different culture and environment. (he was 12 or 13)
He complained about food all the time. The real home made mexican food was far from Tacobell. You know, I can enjoy almost any food. but not for Lucas in Mexico city. (Speaking of food, I happen to remember that everytime I ate grits, you and Lucas asked me if I really like grits. Promise me. I really enjoyed grits.)
There are many things to tell you about the trip. I will tell you more about that trip some other time.
